Game Rules
Pentago is an award-winning board game that combines strategy and intelligence. Thanks to its rotation mechanic, every move changes the balance of the board and requires deep strategic thinking.
Pentago is also featured in official tournaments organized by the Turkey Mind Sports Federation.
The Board
The game board consists of 4 movable quadrants, each made up of 3x3 squares. Together they form a 6x6 playing field (36 squares).
Objective
Be the first player to line up 5 marbles of the same color in a row — horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
5 black marbles lined up horizontally
How to Play
The game starts with an empty board. Players choose a color (black or white). Each move consists of two phases:
Place a Marble
Place one of your marbles into any empty hole on the board.
Rotate a Quadrant
After placing your marble, you must rotate any one of the 4 quadrants (whether it has marbles or not) 90 degrees clockwise or counterclockwise.
Winning Conditions
Getting Five in a Row
A player wins if they get 5 marbles in a row after placing a marble or after rotating a quadrant.
Simultaneous Five
If both players form a line of 5 at the same time when a quadrant is rotated, the game ends in a draw.
Full Board
If all holes are filled and no one has formed a line of 5, the game ends in a draw.
